I have heared that not, buy this sounded like more of a rumor than a fact.
does it? and if not, why so? is the 5c too small, too thick, too long?

don't think so they are not really the same shape 5c is much rounder on the edges

only cases made for the 5C are compatible with the 5C
It's a very common, and surprisingly accurate rumor. The 5/5S cases will not fit well/easily on a 5C due to the 5C's slightly larger size, shown in this graph.
