I have a MacBook Air computer (OS X 10.10.2). I want to clear history in the Safari browser without deleting cookies. In my old Windows computer, I had the choice of deleting browsing history in Internet Explorer or Firefox without deleting cookies. Is this possible with my version of Safari (8.0.4)?

You do not have that kind of granularity when clearing history in Safari. You can select a time frame, but you cannot save your cookies from deletion.
Menu Bar select Show History and select all that you desire to delete and you will not loose cookies and passwords saved!
I'm not sure any of us are interested in manually clearing history item by item, but your method will do the trick.
