Mapping Virtual Instruments to an electronic drum kit using Logic Pro.

I'm thinking about getting an electronic drumset. I want to map it to certain vst's I have. I know it can be done, but does anyone have any good links on how? My question/concern is that I have all these percussion instruments assigned to an 88 key keyboard. I want to make sure that I can pick and choose which specific note/drum is assigned to which pad I want to use with it. Also Those instruments have different samples for different velocities. (instead of different volumes) will that carry over to the e-kit?
