Ipad keeps timing out when connected to laptop on itunes

Can anyone please help!

Few weeks ago my brand new ipad air 2 had to be returned with a fault on the hardware.

It was fully backed up and synced to this laptop. But I have just got round to trying to connect to itunes via my laptop but keep getting the following error message

Itunes could not connect to the Ipad because the device timed out!

I have tried everything and cant seem to get it to connect. Thought it might be the cable but my iphone connects within seconds. Software is the latest iOS 8.2

Anyone know how to fix this or do I need to get it replaced yet again?

Hello Jaymcdaid32,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like your new iPad Air 2 is timing out when you connect it to iTunes, but your iPhone connects normally.

You mentioned that you've tried lots of steps, and I wanted to make sure that you've gone through all the advice in this troubleshooting guide:

iTunes: Resolve USB-related alerts - Apple Support

If so, try placing your iPad into recovery mode and see if it can be restored using the steps in this article:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If possible, try this last step using a different computer as well.

All the best,

Jeremy
