Help needed, connecting to Hard Drive.

Hello if anyone can help.

Having a hard time connecting to my hard drive...

Macbook late 2008, I am currently running OS X 10.9.5 (no issues runs great).

connected WD My Book Essential 3TB hard drive to the TRENDnet AC1750.

my steps,

Finder > GO > Connect to Server > smb://___.___.__._ > Connect

next, SELECT THE VOLUMES YOU WANT TO MOUNT ON "____________" which only gives option sda1

Connects but Empty and only shows 200mb?

Not sure where I went wrong... if anyone knows of a fix or if something reads wrong, please drop a reply.
