Attempt of identity theft or spyware bots attack

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.5 While on Safari 7.1.3 a message box popped up that said "Windows Security Essential Detected an Attempt of identity theft or spyware bots attack from this computer. All attempts to quarantine the threats failed. Please Contact Microsoft Live Support at 1-833-275-9203 TOLL FREE". The address at the top of the box was www.articinteriors.com

Does anyone know if this is a legitimate message? I have no idea what to do. Thanks so much for your help.

Not true. Do not call the number.

Force quit Safari, then restart Safari while holding the Shift key.

It is a SCAM. Ignore it. Do not respond to it.

All they might want from you is money or information from you that might enable them to loot your bankl account.

1. No, it's not.

2. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, close Safari, and then launch it with the Shift key held down. If that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.
