if i clear my macbook will i be clearing iPhoto too?
i am wanting to clear my mac of every apart from my photos. so if i clear it will i loose the iPhoto photos too?

Yes. Make a backup before proceeding.

Erasing the internal drive will erase its contents, including the photos; anything you'd like to keep should be on at least two drives.
