I accidentally dropped my iPhone on my macbook track pad. It was about a 6" drop, nothing huge. But when the phone hit the laptop, the macbook screen immediately went to horizontal black and white lines. It reminded me of static on a tv. The lines lasted for about 30 seconds and then the laptop shut down and restarted itself.
Should I be checking the hard drive or anything?

It will make it easier to help you w/ your problem to know the exact model, size, year built, RAM installed and OS you're running.
The lines actually don't make sense. Only if you hit the screen or disrupted the LVDS cable or damaged the logic board.
I have a 2010 MacBook Pro 15", 2.53 GHz, i5 core, OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
How is it operating now? It would be a good idea to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the MBP evaluated. It will be free regardless of warranty status.
You might consider running an Apple Hardware Test. Note that an error free test is not definitive.

How's it been running since then? Possibly you hit it hard enough to put a voltage transient through the machine.
Hopefully the logic board wasn't damaged but do what Oglethorpe says and have Apple run an ASD on it.
It seems to be working fine. I think it may have taken a little longer to start up after the screen freaked out but other than that it's been operating fine.
Well hopefully you're lucky. You might as well keep using it. If it develops more weird symptoms then post back.
