my iMac is posting me that it picked up a virus on safari and telling total a certain number to get it checked out,could it be true?
Not true. Do not call the number.
Force quit Safari, then restart Safari while holding the Shift key.
If that doesn't work, try to shutdown Safari and disconnect from the network. Then while disconnected from network restart Safari.
