SInce upgrading to mavericks computer is so slow now.

SInce upgrading to mavericks computer is so slow now. Freezes more than it opens applications. Should I upgrade ram form 2gb to 4gb? Would that help? Wish I had left it using snow leopard at this point.

Update your RAM. 2GB is not enough to run Mavericks or Yosemite efficiently.

Also post an etrecheck report in case you have third party apps installed that are also causing issues.

Many thanks Pete. Would upgrading to 4GB be enough?

Below is the etrecheck report.

Thanks again

Please review the options below to determine which method is best to remove the Adware installed on your computer.

The Easy, safe, effective method:

http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

If you are comfortable doing manual file removals use the somewhat more difficult method:

I would go to at least 8GB, and if you iMac can support more, I would go higher. But I'm not in charge of spending your money (only my own). Around here, we like Crucial.com and MacSales.com for RAM upgrades.

Follow stedman1 advice to get rid of the adware. Geneio all by itself is capable of making the most powerful Mac crawl (happened to my Wife, who is a multi-decade computer professional and not careless, so Geneio can happen to anyone).
