I've got the notifications set to ding, etc. when mail arrives. I have a special ding for VIP mail. But it ONLY dings when I specifically open mail to send it or check it.
I want to be notified especially of VIP emails, but they aren't happening. (Texts don't chime as they're set to, either.) What am I doing wrong?

Double check that you have sounds set up for the notifications in settings. Also, make sure your phone is not on do not disturb mode (the moon in control center)
NOpe. Everything is set right. Only dings when I'm actually checking mail
This happens to my mom all of the time. I think you have the Do Not Disturb turned on in your control center. Check the top of your phone screen and see if you see the little moon turned up there. If so press your home button then swipe your finger from the bottom of your home button up and the control center will come up. Then turn it off by touching the moon so it is not highlighted. It usually gets turned on by mistake. I hope this works for you.
Nope. That's one of the first things I checked. I'm going to have to go into the Apple Store and get a Genius to help me.
