My ipod touch 5 wont turn on

My ipod touch 5th generation with IOS 8.1 has a cracked screen and its been cracked for over 2 months and it was at 50% last i saw it and i was using it and i put it down for 10 minutes and then when i picked it up it wouldn't turn on. i held down the power button for 2 min to see if it was dead but no dead battery sign came up. i clicked the home button a couple times but it didn't do anything. it has no water damage that i know of and it has been working normal up until now.

You could try a reset. Hold down the sleep and home buttons for about 20 seconds and see if you can get it to reboot.

It may come back, it may not. It may function fine with the cracked screen, or the screen could slowly be letting moisture and the such into the innards of your iPad and that damage might finally have reached a tipping point.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
