ios 8.2 mute group chat

before the update of ios 8.2 i used to mute my group chat using the "do not disturb" feature in the "details" section and still get notifications but they would be silent. since the update of ios 8.2 i can still mute the group chat but i dont get notifications at all from the group and wont see the messages unless i open up the message thread. any way to fix this please?
