After my niece downloaded some b.s. I'm finding that my search engine is defaulting to yahoo when I want to use Google. I've tried switching it in preferences but it doesn't work as my settings are currently on Google but still defaults to yahoo. I don't know how to change this and yahoo is irritating me. Is there any other way I can fix this?

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
