Can I share recordings NOT purchased from iTunes from MacBook Pro to iPad....

They are mp3 transferred from CD's, audio books, podcasts and downloads from other sources.

I have many more on my MacBook Pro that I would like to access on my iPad mini - if possible would even would like to transfer some. Is that possible?

General question is how do I access the music from my laptop to my iPad, if they are not bought from iTunes?
