Docs deleted from icloud drive

Hi,

I am about to move my documents from an external HDD and Box.com to icloud drive. I have noticed that there isn't a way of recovering files that I may accidentally delete in the future. Am I missing something here and is there a way to recover deleted files from my iPhone? I am currently using document by readdle to sync files between an ipad and iphone.

The second question, would having a imac enable me to recover the deleted files or should I just continue to use my external HDD along with box to storage my documents?

My main concern with icloud is how do I recover my files after accidentally deleting them.
