Which is better to run Adobe CS6, the 5K IMac with the best processors and Ram etc. or a new MacPro with 6 Cores? I don't want to pay $2K more for the MacPro if it is not much faster than the latest IMac. I already have a 28" monitor, but not a 4K one, only 1080.

You can literally kill the nMP with a Classic 4,1 and outfit it with 5k capable gpu, more RAM, lots of PCIe SSDs and have the freedom to use whatever GPU fits the bill, GTX or AMD.
And do so on a budget and upgrade as needed.
nMP is getting old has not improved on GPU, but while it costs more, you can still change out processor and SSD but Thunderbolt storage, whichever you go with, have added cost, and no I would not just use USB3.
