Is it best to try to keep it as fully charged as possible all of the time, or should it be run down before charging?

in time to time you should leave the battery finish until you full charge it again (3 in 3 months is ok)

Thanks, Guilherme. I'd already looked over those Apple tips. They deal with using the iPhone, using the apps and iPhone settings. I was trying to ask more specifically about charging strategy. Your apparent suggestion (run it down to [nearly] dead, then charge it fully a few times) is in line with what I would try if I didn't get any other ideas.
you're over thinking this. charge it however and whenever you like.
I always try to get down to 10% before charging.
It has served me well for many years.
