ios 8.2 app store badge icon not resetting

I have an iPhone 6 with IOS 8.2. Just this week (March 25, 2015) my App store icon had a badge indicating 21 updates needed to be applied. Yet, when I open the APP Store icon, it shows 21 apps that appear to be updated already and just show the "OPEN" button next to each. Additional Info: The 21 Apps show in the "Available Updates" section but each has the "OPEN" button next to it, not the "Update" button. The "Updated All" button at the top is grayed out too.

Why all of a sudden is the badge on the APP Store icon not resetting? No other changes were applied this week by me.

Any ideas?

Howdy JLAtlanta,

It may help to force close all open apps, then reset your iPhone.

Force an app to close in iOS

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If you're still seeing phantom update notifications, the next step would be to reinstall iOS on your device by placing it in Recovery Mode, then choosing Update in iTunes.

  1. Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
  2. Put your device in recovery mode.
  3. When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn onhttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

Allen
