Microsoft Remote Desktop

I just purchased the free app Microsoft Remote Desktop. However, I don't know how to use it. There are some lackluster tutorials on youtube. Can anyone refer me to a quality teaching source for this app? thanks

There's really nothing to learn. All you need to do is setup the computer you wish to connect to using Remote Desktop and start the connection.

i.e. Remote Desktop will allow you to view a Windows Computer on the same Network as the Mac, Remote Desktop is running on.

If you click on the large + sign you can add a new connection. Once you've setup the connection you can select it from the list, and press the large right pointing arrow.

And that's it, Remote Desktop should connect to the windows computer you specified, and show its Desktop screen.

What exactly are you having trouble with?

Thanks for link. Although, I've tried that already. I have windows 8.1 on a slave pc. This link is for window 8.1 pro. The options in step 4 do not exist. I have found no instructions for setup regarding window 8.1 (regular, not pro).

If your Windows PC is running Windows 8.1 RT (i.e Tablet version of Windows) then Remote Desktop is not available. That is you cannot connect to it through remote desktop. But you can connect from it to another computer.
