Mar 27, 2015 10:29 AM in response to BeavisORButtheadby Kappy,Do they recognize a plain old USB external drive? Does it not have Firewire ports? Doesn't your iMac also have a Firewire port? You could use an external Firewire drive - one that supports FW400. You will then need a FW400 (6-pin) to FW800 (9-pin) cable to connect it to your iMac.

Mar 27, 2015 10:31 AM in response to BeavisORButtheadby Jan Hedlund,The table at http://www.applefool.com/se30/#afpnetwork could possibly be of interest to you. When "normal" file sharing is not possible because of operating system incompatibilities, FTP is often a good alternative. You may want to try a small FTP server (such as the now free NetPresenz) on the Mac OS 9.x.x machine. An appropriate FTP client on the more modern computer would allow access to the files.

Otherwise, simplest method is to take hard drive out of the G4 and use a universal bare drive cable a pater to connect to the iMac
