Round spot on iPhone 6 Plus' Touch ID. Why?

I realized that on my iPhone 6 Plus' Touch ID there is a little round spot. It doesn't affect the usage, but I am an Apple geek and need to know... WHY?

It is easier to see with light over it, and it's inside the silver circle. Right where we touch de finger.

It's small and seems to come from the inside, like a bottom layer.

Is it because of the color (white)?

Any thoughts?!

Thanks!

Do you have a photo? My iPhone 6 was in direct sunlight and I noticed a sort of "halo" ring in the middle of the sensor. Looks like the black has slightly faded or worn out. Unfortunately I don't have a photoUser uploaded file, but it kinda looks like this, but much less obvious:

User uploaded file

I highly doubt its an issue or effects anything, just interesting to see maybe the sensor, sapphire or coating wears out slightly over years of use.
