My full-size contact picture is not consistent.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus. The same contact picture shows up full-sized only part of the time. Then sometimes, it shows up as a small circle. I am doing nothing to change it. Can anybody help me figure out how to make my contact picture consistently full-size? I am on iOS 8.2. Thanks
