It is adequate to turn off the iOS devices once in a while?

As a computer, mobile electronic devices run with complex architectures and layers of hardware. My question is:

Could you experience less issues if you turn off or restart your iOS device, for example once a week, for corrections in performance, data on the OS?. Correct

me if im wrong on this topic. But i empirically feel this is helping me to avoid uncommon freezes or software related issues. Again i dont know if this step

has a technical explanation, which solves something.

Thanks in advance

iPhone 5, iOS 8.2, iOS in general
