I am trying to create a new apple id. I am asked to type my current email address, and when i do, it tells me that the address is unavailable. what do i do to proceed

i am trying to create a new apple id for my mac book air. it asks me to type in my current valid email address. when i do, it tells me that the address is unavailable. how do i proceed.

You do release that all items purchased under your old Apple ID are permanently attached to that AppleD. So if you do manage to create anew you will have to repurchase everything once again using the new AppleID in order to have then connected to it for updates.
