Q: FaceTime and iMessage won't stay signed in

HI everyone,

This is a problem that has been bothering me for a few months. My family shares one iCloud account, which we use to make purchases all to one credit card. I also have my own Apple ID that I use for iMessage and FaceTime. Lately, however, my iPad has not been letting me stay signed in. The default Apple ID it gives me when I want to log in is my family ID. It has this in the username, so I delete it all, type my own in, and type my password. Then it says I'm logged in, but if I leave the page and come back it will go back to wanting me to sign in using my family account. if anyone can help me out that'd be great. Also this is when I'm trying to sign in through Settings. If I go through iMessage, it just straight up won't sign me in.

Thanks tons!

    Hi ayyyschultzy,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you have a different Apple ID and want to use that as default instead of the family's account. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

What to do after you change your Apple ID email address or password - Apple Support

    FaceTime

Update your Apple ID or password on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.

    • If you're signed out on your iPhone or iPod touch, tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime" and enter your updated Apple ID or password. On your iPad, just enter your updated Apple ID or password.
