i downloaded itunes to my computer, but when i try to add my music to my iphone it says cannot connect to the iphone store

Is this a new computer?

Have you transferred your library to it?

Have you authorised the computer to your Apple ID?

Are there app or media items on the device that aren't on your computer?

I suspect if there is any protected content involved anywhere in the mix, apps for example, that iTunes will want to "phone home" to check.
