Q: Does Siri have a silent mode, if not when?

It would be nice to launch Siri silently to do a search when you don't want to disturb anyone/everyone, like in a meeting... I know you could launch Siri, she will harp on for all to hear, I will have to speak into the phone and then I can tap "edit my text", but I'm guessing you're already seeing how disruptive that would be in certain situations. Maybe a settings option that will bring up a silent Siri, that gives you the microphone button (as usual) and an edit option. I could hit edit option which would mute Siri and let me text something silently or I could tap the microphone and use my voice business as usual. I think this feature would greatly improve Siri's usability, especially in a workplace environment. If anyone knows of an app or setting e.g. accessibility options that could enable this option it would be appreciated.

Siri is designed to be voice activated. However, if you want to search by typing, you can use the built in Spotlight search feature. Put your finger anywhere on the screen between icons and pull down. This will bring up the search bar. Type in what you want to search for. Spotlight will search both the phone and the web.

You could also use the Bing or Google standalone apps.
