My FaceTime suddenly stooped responding. I try to sign in it works and stops with no error message. The Apple ID and password are correct.

TThis is a problem I am facing with my brand new mini IPad. Operating system has been letely updated to 8.2. The FaceTime app used to be working fine until two days ago. It requires me to sign in. When I do this with my Apple ID and password (which I verified are correct), it tries signing for sometime but does not seem to work. no error messages are given. Any guidance to resolve this our is appreciated.
