my ipod wont turn on i already read about holding the power button and the home button the only thing is my home button is not working so what can i do

my ipod wont turn on, its a ipod 5th gen- I turned off my ipod and then when I went to check it later it wont turn on this is the second time it happened, I tried to charge it its not recognizing it, I have heard that you can try to press the power button and the homebutton to make it work, when it happened the first time I did that and it worked but since my home button isn't working what can I do, can I try to fix it or do I have to go to apple and ask, can anyone help me plz
