iMac 27" RAM Upgrade Slot Order Help Please?

Hey Macheads,

I have a question that I have been getting different answers for (I work at Apple and can't figure this out).

I have a mid 2012 27" iMac with the standard 8 GB RAM. I received two 8 GB Crucial Modules and I cannot figure out the correct placement of the modules. Does it matter which slots the RAM are in? Should the Apple RAM be in the first and third despite being only 4 GB modules or should I place the Crucial in the slots that

already have the built in RAM?

Below is my current iMac RAM. I haven't noticed any change in performance, in fact, my Apps are consistently crashing (may be due to the Photos application).
