last time I went to sync my phone it put one of my daughters photo album's on my phone as a separate photo album in my photos and would not allow me to delete any of them. I need to update my phone again and I would like to remove these photos. How can I do this?

Photos synced from your computer to your phone can not be deleted on the phone. You'll have to deselect the album in the photo pane in iTunes and sync the phone again after that. This will remove those photos. Only photos taken by the phone and being inside the camera roll can be deleted in the photo app on the phone.
