I have 4 devices online. 3 of them are at my home with me, and are displaying in the grid lines. The 4th device is a few miles away from me, and is displaying in the grid lines as well. However, there are no streets, roads, highways, or anything else showing up on those gridlines. So I can see that the 4th devices is northwest of me, but I have no idea where.

I did do an upgrade to iOS 8.2 this morning, and this feature hasn't worked correctly since.
