So my son changed his password on his ipad mini and already forgot it. So we are locked out. I tried to do a factory restore, but it won't let me because he has "find my" ipad turned on. Since I am locked out of his ipad, I can't turn it off. What do I do now?

Have you tried erasing it by going to the iCloud website and using Find My iPhone to actually erase the device?
This way, although I've never tried it should allow you to wipe the iPad remotely and then recover it by using your Apple ID once it's complete. I could be wrong as I've never tried it, so I take no responsibility for any damage caused to your iPad etc.

I was able to log in and give the command to wipe the ipad, but it will only do it if it connects to the internet, which it wont because it is locked out. I also tried removing the device from "find my ipad" and it still would not let me restore it without turning the "find my ipad" function off. I'm at a loss here.
