Can i stream films direct from time capsule to apple tv wirelessly?

At the moment I have to plug my external hard drive into my macbook to stream films onto my apple tv.

If i were to buy a time capsule would i be able to do this without having to stream it through my mac? Basically my wife and kids want to watch stuff whilst i'm at work with the macbook.
