Can't log onto MacBook air

i purchased this MacBook air a few weeks ago and I forgot my password to log in. I know my Apple ID and password and clicked reset password and enter that and it says I need to enter my iCloud password. (It's the same thing !!) im so frustrated I spent so much money on this computer and it will not let me on ! Someone please help !!! I'm beginning to regret getting an apple.
