How do I organise my Date column?? I can't seem to find the resolution.
I want to organise it from the start of the financial year.

Did you use inspector to set up the column as a date field?
I am not familiar with the use of inspector. where do i collect it?

Ok, so i have found the inspector tab and i have been trying already within the filter and sort fields with no luck
Highlight the column by clicking on the header -- then click on the i in the tool bar - that allows you to format the fields in a column.
where is the i in the tool bar?

Click on Sort, then Click on Add a Column...
Or, another way without using the side panel. Click in a column (B in this example) then click on the "v" on the column label (B) to see a contextual menu:

Thanks for the info.
My initial problem was that i hadn't assigned the header row to itemise the unique column names from the default 'Column 1'
I have managed to get the final stage form your explanation, but am still faced with the issue of alphabetic sorting.
Any thoughts on having the field recognise the date and sort it from the 01-04-2014?

Hi Jonny,
Your screen shot shows Column C (Date) is left aligned. That suggests the the Data Format is Text rather than Date & Time.
Text format will sort as text, not date 😉.
