keyboard no longer lights on Macbook Pro

It was working fine, but now it just doesn't light at all. I checked System Preferences but there was nothing for keyboard lights. Is this a sign of a bigger issue?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Backup your computer.

Reinstall OS X Yosemite.

Well I did the MVRAM reset and it did not fix my keyboard problem, but I'm glad I know about that now, thanks.
