iPad 1 at&t has no service using an european sim card
iPad 1 Model mc497LL has "no service" while using it through a european sim card. Is it sim locked?

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are traveling and have no service. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
If you see No Service in the status bar of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
If you see No Service while roaming or traveling
You might be outside of your carrier's coverage area. If you're traveling internationally, you'll need an international roaming plan to use your iPhone or iPad.
