Are you talking about the iTunes Library on your computer or your iTunes account tied to your Apple ID?
I'm talking about the Library on my computer - even though the iPod's library was created years ago from the same account they are not the same. When I try to sync it wants to delete the iPod library and replace it with the computer's Library.
Wish the cloud had existed years ago
The account and the library are not the same thing. Are these songs on your iPod purchased from the iTunes Store or ripped from CDs?
They are purchased from iTunes - But if I go to iTunes they don't show as "purchased"
Was all your music purchased under one Apple ID?
Yes, and that's what's strange. This is friends account who lost her computer years ago and though she kept the account on her phone - 3 years worth of purchases have been "trapped" on her iPod. Now she has a new computer and I'm trying to get all of this straightened out.
I appreciate your help with this.
On the computer in iTunes log into her Apple ID and then see if recent purchases are shown by clicking on her name in iTunes, entering her password and then selecting the option. If there is nothing there then she bought that music with a different Apple ID.
You can use TouchCopy to move all the songs on the iPod to the computer. Then try to play one of the purchase songs and it should show the account used to purchase it and ask for the password.
I am able to play the iPod on the Computer by typing in the old ID & PW (I recently changed the user ID & PW - still the same account) but I still can't sync to integrate the two accounts. These are old mp4p - very well protected - I have Wondershare & I can't convert them.
You have totally lost me. Is this your account?
You can't integrate iTunes accounts.
no - its one account but there is an old iPod that has been disconnected from iTunes (internet) for years so for some reason Apple isn't recognizing that.
What is TouchCopy?
You mentioned integrating accounts. That sounds like two accounts.
TouchCopy is an application that runs on a computer and pulls media from an iDevice to the computer.
iTunes is treating it like two accounts even though I tried to do this before I changed the ID & PW - This is an Apple issue - there are 1,200 songs stuck on this iPod, apparently because it's pre Cloud era.
The iCloud era has nothing to do with music purchased from the iTunes Store. If you log into her account in iTunes how many of the songs appear in her purchase history?
I got it - command: "Transfer Purchases" from iPod
How many points do I get for finding that?
