Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Hello! I'm a brand new apple user. One thing that I'm really missing from my android is the more "standard keyboard." I would like to have basic punctuation (period, question mark, exclamation point, etc.) on the main keyboard when I'm texting, instead of having to hit an additional button. Are there other keyboards I can download or a trick I can learn? Thanks!
iPhone 6, iOS 8.2
The latest version of the operating systems on iOS devices allow installation of alternate keyboards. Use the App Store app on your iPhone and search for iPhone keyboards. Hopefully you will find one that suits your needs.
As you will have noticed, the "manual" found inside the iPhone box is almost a joke. The real thing, all 501 fact and picture filled pages of it, can be read online here. Or, you can download it into the iBooks app using this link so you have it on hand all the time without requiring an Internet connection.
Keyboards are discussed in page 57 and 448.
A quick tip: to insert a period, quickly double-tap the spacebar after a sentence. Other than that, the other users seem to have provided enough info! Good luck, and enjoy your iPhone 🙂

Which works great provided the feature is enabled. Settings / General / Keyboards / "." Shorcut
Yes, and I believe this feature is enabled by default.
Thanks everyone! (I did know the tip about the space bar/period...but I tend to use a lot of question marks and exclamation points when I'm texting). Will check into downloading a different one!!! Thanks a bunch!!! (note the excessive use of exclamation points lol!!!! Maybe I just need to not be such an "excitable" person!!!!😝)
