how to get icloud to recognize new name for my ipad

When I got my ipad, I did not realize that I should give it a name. I set up the icloud and later at the suggestion of another user, changed the Name from Unknown Host to a different name. Now icloud still shows that it is working with "Unknown Host". How do I get it to see my pad now?
