Sync computer music/files to phone

Can not get the SYNC button to light up to WORK! I want all music files on the computer to sync to the phone. Computer is a mac mini OS X 10.6.8 phone is iphone 6. Are they no longer compatible? What's the deal, anyone?

Mac mini, iOS 5.1.1

Does iTunes see the iPod?

Was the iPod previously synced to another computer? You can only sync to one computer.

Try backing p to iTunes and restoring from that backup.

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Note that synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup

Do you have iTunes version 11.4 or greater???

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

Mac:OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 8; Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
