how can i unlock lock my iphone 6 plus

I forgot my password for IPhone 6 plus and now I'm locked out, its tell me to connect to iTunes. I did and it said it can't connect because my phone has a password.

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

Note that, for iTunes to be able to connect with a device running iOS 10 or newer, your computer must be running iTunes version 12.5.1 or newer:

First, release Activation Lock on the phone by logging in to https://icloud.com/find and removing the phone from your account.

Follow the instructions for Recovery Mode, very carefully.
