Mar 28, 2015 6:05 PM in response to Catintree gamingby Loner T,Find a 13-16 GB USB Flash. External HDD on Firewire, USB or Thunderbolt is much faster. In Recovery Console, Click on Re-install OSX.
This is very important. Under no circumstances should you touch the internal disk0.
Please see OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support caveats for Recovery Console OSX Reinstallation.
Which version of OS X is installed by OS X Recovery?
- If you use the Recovery System stored on your startup drive to reinstall OS X, it installs the most recent version of OS X previously installed on this computer.
- If you use Internet Recovery to reinstall OS X, it installs the version of OS X that originally came with your computer. After installation is finished, use the Mac App Store to install related updates or later versions of OS X that you have previously purchased.

Mar 28, 2015 6:28 PM in response to Catintree gamingby Loner T,Assuming you are in the Internet Recovery/Local Recovery (either will work) in Recovery console
1. Plug in an external disk which should 16GB in size.
2. Choose Re-install OSX.
3. You will get a disk selection box. Click on Show all disks.
4. Choose your external disk (nothing else). This external drive will be erased and partitioned, if necessary.
5. Once OSX Installation is complete, click on Restart (quitting the Rceovery console will also ask for shutdown or Startup Disk).
6. Choose the external disk as Startup Disk.
7. It will boot from the external disk with a full OSX installation.
8. Download GPT Fdisk from the link I posted earlier and install it on this external disk.
9. Run the Gdisk utility which should already be in your path. The command line is sudo gdisk /dev/disk0.
10. Run the 'p'(rint) command and post the output.

May 27, 2015 2:47 PM in response to Catintree gamingby Loner T,Instead of an external USB flash drive, do you have an external USB hard disk which can be partitioned for an OSX installation?

May 27, 2015 3:36 PM in response to Catintree gamingby Loner T,If you have a Time Machine backup before your problems started, then
1. Back up OSX using Time Machine - Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.
2. Boot into Internet Recovery - OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support.
3. Erase your internal drive and restore from the TM backup in Step 1 - OS X Yosemite: Recover your entire system.
Please be aware that TM does not backup Bootcamp partitions.
If you want to wipe the Mac clean, you can run Internet Recovery from Step 2, erase your internal disk via Utilities -> Disk Utility and re-install OSX.

May 27, 2015 3:39 PM in response to Loner Tby Catintree gaming,II've never used time machine, I'm going to wipe it clean. I presume this will clear everything and it will be good to re partition?
