I have just recently updated my OS to yosemite and now I don't know how to transfer movies to dvd and play it to our dvd player at home. Please Hep!!

If you can't be bothered to actually describe your problem, we can't offer much help.
WHY can't you burn DVD any more?
If the program you were using is not compatible with Yosemite, then get something else. Roxio offers several products for Macs that can burn DVDs.
