iPhone Calendar Sync Problems

Since upgrading to iOS 8.2 calendar syncing is not possible.

I keep getting the following error messages

"iTunes could not sync calendars to iPhone because an error occurred while sending data from iPhone"

and the message

"iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because a sync session could not be started"

iTunes version 12.1.0.50

OS X 10/10.2

iPhone 5s, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Strange .. I tried to restore my iPhone to a OS 8.1.3, but was unable. The phone was then automatically disconnected from iTunes. I restarted iTunes, phone reconnected, was able to sync, with all calendar data updated to my phone.
