How do I make my IPOD show as device to sync music to?

I have an ipod nano 4th generation. My PC has windows7 professional. When I select SYNC I don't see that my IPOD is the any device to sync music to

iPod nano, Windows 7, does not show as device to sync to

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you want to sync but the iPod is not showing up in iTunes. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
