if i select the option of deleting all photos from iphone in iPhoto section will they still be in iPhoto if they are all deleted on my iPhone ?

i have tried to do that and it actually never deletes any photos on my phone
i know i have 5,000 photos bc i am a photo hoarder and i have no room at all and no patience to select them one by one
If the photo transfer was successful, then you have no worries: the photos will be on your Mac.

If you are asking whether or not the question that iPhoto on your Mac asks when you have imported your photos (do you want to keep or delete them), then as long as you feel comfortable that they have imported successfully, you can delete them.
It's always best, to make sure you have a current back up in iCloud before you import and then delete photos. That way, if something doesn't get imported correctly, you still have a backup of your Camera Roll on your device, and you have the option to restore it from the backup.
