my problem is that I can't close garageband and so switch of my computer. I also can't download extra digital instruments and loops ?

Have you tried Force Quit from the -menu?
What happens, when you try to download the extra content?
yes.. it doesn't work...
It stop at 1/4 of the download...
There may be many reasons for the download failing - running out out of storage, network problems, permission problems on the system library, a firewall or Antivirus software interfering with the connection to the AppStore. It is really hard to say, what might be the problem in your case.
